  1. Michelle, I really like the RAW version pigeon/dove picture. All of the different soft shades of gray gray gray gray, and then the tack sharp bird in the middle looking our way. Those tail feathers look positively pet-able, they are so clear. I am impressed. I myself have a hard time focusing carefully enough, especially under time pressure as you are with animals, to get that degree of control. In this picture, the RAW version seems to give you just a slight bit more detail in the middle bird's face and tail feathers that makes it quite appealing and argues for using RAW mode even if it chews up memory.

  2. I love the b/w bird shots here.
A great image to show aperture as well as raw v jpg.
How did the photo look in color?

  3. Wait. The bird picture is in black-and-white? HAHAHAHA!!! I was so impressed ("Wow, look at how all non-bird elements in this picture are different shades of gray...." "What careful attention to setting.") I imagine that I see a hint of blue in the grays, I guess.

  4. I swear that the middle bird's knees are pink. Are you SURE that this is black-and-white, Chelsea?! Maybe it is just so magnificently awesome that I am fooled into thinking that it is really a color photo.

  5. Love the BW gulls. The depth of field looks perfect to highlight the middle gull. Really hard for me to tell any difference between the RAW & JPEG. Lovely compositions!
