Happiness is Chillin' in the Church Nursery

One of the subjects' mothers asked me to make a print of this, and I thought of color. I like it mostly because of the parallel actions of the two people and the worshipful cherubic look on the little boy's face (and how a teenage boy of that age is beeing a good guy in the nursery with the wee tots). But I wonder if it is also striking because of the work that the bright orange does, and then the way that the mooses on the shirt and the teenager's hat go with the plastic climbing gym colors.

  1. I do agree the interaction between the two subjects really makes this photo interesting. Also, I think the secondary colors (green, orange, & purple) definitely helps. While the lights have a tint of purple too, its a bit distracting for me. I would maybe try a polarizer or burning it in photoshop some. I am not sure if that would improve but it may be worth comparing the two together. My eye just tends to go straight to the lights and it may help draw the attention to the boys by toning the lights down.

  2. Thank you, Michelle. Good point about the lights. I hadn't thought of them and would not have thought of those solutions to try.

  4. I absolutely love this picture. The composition is great. The contrast gree and orange colors give interest to the photo. The face expression of the kid is amazing. Very nice work, Beth!
